Pushing Daisies

Pushing Daisies is a comedy series often described as a ‘forensic fairy tale’. The series follows the fortunes of a pie-maker who has the power to bring dead back to life. The show premiered in America on October 3, 2007. The second season premiered on October 1, 2008.

Ned, a pie maker is gifted with the ability to bring back dead to life for exactly a minute by touching the dead. He has to touch them again before a minute has passed to put them back to sleep otherwise something else of similar life value falls dead in the vicinity. In addition, if he happens to touch the revived person a second time, it falls dead permanently.

Ned owns a restaurant named ‘A Pie Hole’ which he runs with the help of waitress Oliver Snook. His restaurant runs into financial difficulty but a private investigator, Emerson Cod, accidentally, discovers his unique gift and makes a proposal to him. Ned would touch the murder victim and bring him back to life and enquire about the circumstances leading to the crime and identity of the murderer. He would then touch them again before the set sixty seconds. Cod would solve the case and both would split the reward money.

The scheme works until Ned learns that Charlotte "Chuck" Charles, his childhood sweetheart whom he had not met for many years, has been murdered on a cruise. He touches her and brings her to life but could not bring himself to touch her again. He allows her to live and the larcenous director of funeral home falls dead. Ned and Chuck fall in love again and start living together under strange condition of never being able to touch each other.
