Gilmore Girls
The show is about single mother Lorelai Victoria Gilmore (Graham) and her daughter Lorelai "Rory" Leigh Gilmore (Bledel), living in a fictional town of Stars Hollow Connecticut. The series made its debut on October 5, 2000 and ended on May 15, 2007. Though, the series explores various premises like family, friendships, social divide, generation gap etc. yet it centers on close relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter.
Lorelai Gilmore is a free spirited woman who became mother at a tender age of 16, much against the wishes of her parents. Right from the birth of Rory, they both have been everything to each other. Lorelai enjoys a close and warm relationship with her daughter and tries to ensure that her daughter does not follow her footsteps and repeat the mistakes she herself made. That’s easier said than done, for the two share the same interests, same intellect, same eyes and even share their addiction for coffee. Despite the fact that Rory is more serious than her mother, there are tendencies, especially in love department, that show that she is essentially her mother’s daughter.
Gilmore Girls was created as an initiative to make American television more family-friendly. It was the first series to be supported by the Family Friendly Forum's script development fund.
